Classic Black & White Wedding at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, Ohio

Ninamarie + Mitchell

On a beautiful Saturday morning in Columbus, Ohio, inside the iconic Leveque Tower, Ninamarie and her bridesmaids gathered with excitement as they got ready for a day of celebration. Once hair and makeup was complete, Ninamarie slipped into her stunning Martina Liana gown with delicate lace sleeves and a plunging neckline. Once her cathedral length veil was placed she was ready for an emotional and tear-filled first look with her dad.

The ceremony was held at St Joseph Catholic Cathedral in downtown Columbus. The air was filled with the smell of incense that captured the rays of sunlight spilling through the cathedral’s stained glass windows.

Mitchell, in his sleek black tuxedo, looked dashing as he got ready to see his bride walk down the aisle. I kept my camera focused on his emotional reaction as Ninamarie walked toward him arm in arm with her father. After a beautiful ceremony the couple sealed their vows with a kiss and were cheered on by loved ones as they proceeded back up the aisle as husband and wife.

Following the ceremony and family photos at the altar we headed to the Ohio Statehouse where the marble columns and elegant architecture were the perfect backdrop for portraits. Guests were welcomed into the historic rotunda for cocktail hour before entering the atrium for the main event.

The monochrome color palette was carried throughout the reception space with black chairs, white linens, and striking centerpieces from Blooms by Amanda featuring white hydrangeas and soft candlelight. The tall modern buttercream cake by Lavender and Honey was adorned with sugar flower roses, wafer paper details and a flowing ribbon from the Lesser Bearer.

Once guests took their seats the sound of bagpipes filled the air as Ninamarie and Mitchell were escorted into the reception where they shared their first dance. The bagpipes were a nod to the many police officers Ninamarie has in her family, including her father.

The evening encompassed emotional toasts, a delicious dinner, and a night of dancing. Guests could take a break from the dance floor to enjoy the cigar bar off the south patio, snap photos at the photobooth and sample all the yummy desserts provided.

The spacious atrium transformed into a vibrant dance party, as music from DJ Axcess cascaded through the room and Ninamarie and Mitchell danced the night away with their closest family and friends.
