Elizabeth + Collin

As a general theme of 2020, I think we can all agree that love is never cancelled. When Collin and Elizabeth’s original wedding plans were impacted by the pandemic they decided to focus in on what really matters most to them— getting married and starting their life together as husband and wife. The Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio was the perfect place to tie the knot. As Elizabeth said, “We were so ready and excited to start the next chapter of our lives together, taking the next step was not something we wanted to wait for. Love conquers all and this pandemic was not going to put our lives on hold!”

They began the day at the gorgeous LeVeque Hotel in downtown Columbus where Elizabeth got ready with her mom and sister by her side and Collin spent the morning with his parents and brother. There is something so special about a small wedding— it offers the opportunity to really slow down, to take in the significance of the day during what otherwise feels like rushed moments.

As her sister placed Elizabeths cathedral length veil and her mom helped with her accessories there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. She then shared a tearful first look with her dad, which was definitely one of my favorite parts of the day.

We snuck in a few bridal portraits outside the hotel as Elizabeth waited for her dad to bring the car around. I always love when I have a nice long veil to play with for photos. Not to mention the gorgeous flowers designed by SunflowerKate Florals that pulled Elizabeth’s bridal look together beautifully.

After a short drive over to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Elizabeth got tucked away in the bridal suite; waiting for the time to walk down the aisle. As music played, Elizabeth entered the bridal garden arm in arm with her dad, completely radiating beauty, and Collin’s face was beaming. This tiny eight person ceremony was absolutely perfect in every way, with their siblings standing up by their sides and their parents as the only guests.

Following the ceremony, they enjoyed a champagne toast in the gardens where we took family photos. We then explored the beautiful grounds of the conservatory on the bright sunny afternoon and ended with photos in the lush Palm House where we captured some stunning portraits. Even though they didn’t technically share a first dance in the traditional sense, they did enjoy a dreamy slow dance where Collin twirled his bride surrounded by the gorgeous green foliage.

This day may not have been how they imagined it to be, but it was no less special. Congratulations you two!! Thank you for allowing me to capture your intimate celebration!

I love hearing Elizabeths reflection back on her big day as she offers some insight into her decision making process!

“Our intimate ceremony at the Franklin Park Conservatory was absolutely perfect! After the stress of having to change plans so many times due to the pandemic, we were finally able to do the thing that mattered most, marry each other. Originally, Collin and I had a ceremony and reception planned in New Jersey, where we live. However, out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health of our friends and family we decided to postpone our wedding celebration. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio, and always dreamed of getting married at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Thankfully, my sister (who lives in Columbus) and mother helped me plan our micro ceremony at the last minute! Although it was a stressful time, we were so lucky to have supportive families and friends to help us put together such a special weekend.

The micro ceremony included just our immediate families, a total of 8 people, which was the perfect size for the Bride's Garden at the Conservatory (holds up to 20 guests). The staff was amazing, helping us set up the music, chairs, and orchestrating the entrance timing. We even had a bottle of champagne to toast at the end! Afterwards, we had a private room at Lindy's for a "reception" dinner. I love this place, the food and service are always top notch. All in all, Collin and I are happy with our decision to get married and not wait another year. We look forward to celebrating with ALL of our friends and extended family hopefully next year when it is safe to get together!”
