Intimate German Village Wedding at Frank Fetch Park Columbus, Ohio

Julia & Barrett's German Village Micro Wedding at Frank Fetch Park

Julia and Barrett’s wedding was a true celebration of love, family, and thoughtful details. Held in the heart of German Village at the charming Frank Fetch Park, their intimate ceremony was filled with sentimental touches that made the day uniquely theirs.

Getting Ready in a Home Full of Character

Julia began her wedding morning in a delightful Airbnb that lined the park—a darling house brimming with charm and character. It was the perfect space for her and her closest girlfriends to spend the morning together, pampering themselves with face masks, sipping mimosas, and relaxing in beautiful floral robes. The atmosphere was lighthearted and joyful, setting the tone for the heartfelt day ahead.

When it was time to get dressed, Julia’s mother assisted her in slipping into her gown—a special piece that once belonged to her Nana, with the sleeves thoughtfully removed during alterations to make it her own. The sentimental value of her wedding attire didn’t stop there; every piece she wore held deep personal significance. One of her pearl necklaces was a collection created by her late great-grandmother (Gram) and her grandfather Steven, gifted to her piece by piece over the years until its completion on her 18th birthday. Barrett’s wedding ring belonged to his late grandfather, Papa, while Julia’s diamond ring was her late grandmother B’s. Her accessories continued to tell stories of family and legacy, including a diamond and sapphire bracelet and earrings from B, a sapphire dragon pin from her Nana (pinned into her handmade hair accessories crafted from lace scraps of her dress), and a delicate handkerchief that once belonged to Gram. Even her reception dress, a chic selection from Reformation, added a personal touch to the day.

A Ceremony Filled with Love & Music

Julia and Barrett’s ceremony was a family affair in every sense. Their three siblings—Jack, Ansley, and Jackson—along with Barrett’s cousin Jacob, performed the ceremony music, filling the park with heartfelt melodies. Readings of poetry and scripture were delivered by Julia’s mother and Barrett’s father, adding layers of emotion to the moment. Their close friend Ben officiated, bringing warmth and familiarity to their vows.

The floral arrangements by Sweet Blossom Floral were truly stunning. Julia’s bridal bouquet, full of dahlias in rich tones, was breathtaking. Sweet Blossom Floral also provided extra blooms, which were used to style the layflats beautifully. The ceremony space featured three large floral arrangements in wicker vessels of varying heights, adding fantastic dimension and texture to the setting.

One special request from the couple was for guests to dress in the wedding’s color palette, which they had shared in advance on their wedding website. This thoughtful detail added an elegant cohesiveness to the gathering, making every guest feel even more connected to the celebration. The chairs were adorned with beautiful bow sashes that Julia thrifted, adding another personalized and charming touch to the ceremony space.

A Romantic Stroll Through German Village

Following the ceremony and family photos, Julia had a quick outfit change into her chic Reformation reception dress. She and Barrett then took a romantic stroll from Frank Fetch Park to Commune, capturing all their portraits along the way. Wandering through the charming streets of German Village provided the perfect backdrop, allowing for beautiful, natural moments to be documented.

A Thoughtfully Curated Reception at Commune

For their reception, Julia and Barrett rented out Commune, their  favorite Columbus restaurant, making the celebration even more meaningful. Their love for vegetarian cuisine was shared with their closest friends and family in an intimate setting, where every detail reflected their values and story.

The floral arrangements at both the rehearsal dinner and reception were a labor of love, created by the women from both sides of their families over coffee and pastries the Friday before the wedding. Julia thrifted most of the vases and candlestick holders and each guest had a unique floral napkin that created a fun eclectic vibe to the space.

Music was another personal touch—the couple curated their own playlist, ensuring that every song held meaning to them. Guests were invited to leave Polaroid snapshots in a guest book using washi tape, creating a collection of joyful moments to be cherished forever. A dedicated space was set up with photographs of late loved ones and family weddings, honoring those who were there in spirit.

As a final touch, each guest received a thoughtful favor—a gift bag with Barrett’s homemade hot sauces, some of which were made with peppers from their own garden.

A Wedding Full of Heart & Meaning

Julia and Barrett’s wedding was a perfect reflection of their love: intentional, deeply personal, and filled with the people and traditions that mean the most to them. From the sentimental heirlooms to the family-crafted florals and the lovingly curated reception details, every part of their day told a story—one they will cherish for a lifetime.
