Small Wedding at Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph

Becky + Bob

Becky and Bob’s wedding day may not have been how they originally envisioned it, with a big room full of all their friends and family, but it was no less special and meaningful! As far as small wedding venues in Columbus go, Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph is pretty darn perfect! The Joseph made every effort possible to ensure Becky and Bob had a wonderful wedding day that was safe, beautiful, and executed flawlessly.

I love that Becky and Bob decided not to put their marriage on hold simply because of obstacles in their way. Instead, they pivoted and handled all the changes with such grace and understanding knowing that they were making the right choice to assure the safety of their loved ones in the middle of a pandemic.

In some ways, I truly believe that their intimate micro wedding was even more unique and purposeful. They chose to have their siblings make up their wedding party and it was so awesome witnessing the love their brother and sisters hold for them. An extra fun element for me was seeing the bond between Becky and her identical twin sister, Lisa. From the moment Becky first told me she was a twin I of course flooded her with lots of questions about her childhood and what her relationship is like with her sister. As a twin mom, it was so heartwarming to hear how unbelievably close Becky and Lisa have always been and still are to this day. They are each other’s best friends and have such a close connection — it was an honor to witness and photograph.

Becky also has an older sister and brother, Katie and Clark, who made up the rest of her side of the wedding party. They had such a fun morning together getting ready, enjoying a champagne toast and sharing stories of their childhood with their mom in the spa room at The Joseph. Becky’s mom helped her into her wedding dress, and she shared a sweet first look with her father. Becky had photos of her grandparents attached to her bouquet as a tribute to them. One of my favorite moments of the day was Becky talking on the phone with the biggest smile on her face saying, “It’s my wedding day Grandma! I’m about to walk down the aisle!”

Bob’s side of the wedding party was made up of his two sisters, Kirsten and Lauren. They shared lots of laughs as they helped him get ready and straightened out his bowtie. His sisters were so thoughtful in helping make the morning fun by surprising Bob with a small golf putter kit as well as custom golf balls that read “BOB-O”. After his mom pinned his boutonniere, they shared a champagne toast to celebrate the occasion.

As I said before, Le Meridien is such a perfect small wedding venue in Columbus. They were able to pull across full floor to ceiling white curtains to block off the typically large reception room to scale the space down for a small celebration. Becky and Bob’s intimate ceremony fit the space perfectly. The emotions were palpable from their families as they stood and exchanged their vows and shared their first kiss as husband and wife.

Following the ceremony, we headed outside for sunshine filled portraits exploring the Short North and Goodale Park. The photos were all so effortless and joy filled as Becky and Bob were surrounded by their siblings. They all are so sweet and the true embodiment of family goals.

After portraits, they headed inside to enjoy the rest of their seated cocktail hour while I captured the beautiful untouched reception space. They repurposed the striking ceremony arch that Blooms by Amanda created to anchor the dinner table. The space was so elegantly put together and a beautiful demonstration of how special a small wedding can be.

There were lots of toasts full of emotional tears and moments of laughter while the families enjoyed personalized charcuterie boards and wine. I loved the small dinner party vibe as everyone sat and enjoyed conversations and the delicious food! We even snuck outside at the end of dinner for golden hour portraits. As always, these are some of my favorite photos from the day— nothing beats that warm golden glow.

Congratulations again Becky and Bob!! It was such an honor to be one of the select few to witness the beginning of your marriage! Cheers!
