If you’re not yet in the Christmas spirit then I challenge you to scroll through these photos while sipping a nice mug of hot chocolate! This wedding oozes all the very best parts of the holiday season! It would have been impossible to leave Katie and Jon’s winter wedding at Pinnacle Golf Club not being in a wonderful mood and excited for the upcoming festivities. Not only were the holiday details beautiful but the true meaning of Christmas was evident as Katie and Jon’s families and friends surrounded them with so much love.

Christmas music was playing and classic white lights wrapped around all the trees to perfectly accent the gold details of the chandeliers at Pinnacle Golf Club. The floral arrangements by Blooms by Amanda were simply breathtaking with an abundance of greenery and pops of red. Not only did Amanda do a fantastic job with the flowers, but she also was so kind to leave me a goodie bag of blooms to use while styling Katie’s details! It makes such a difference in the final images and I’m so grateful for the extra effort!

From the moment I walked into Pinnacle, I was greeted with hugs from both Katie’s mom and dad. They were the most gracious and welcoming people and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. Katie’s mom insisted on gathering little goodie bags for my daughters from the dessert table for me to take home— seriously, just so thoughtful! Everyone was so sweet and kind— I felt like I was just spending the day celebrating with friends.

There was such a big emphasis on meaningful moments with family worked into the details of Katie and John’s wedding. I loved seeing Katie’s mom carefully button up her dress and John’s mom help place his boutonnière. Katie did a first look with her dad and it was one of my favorite moments— the emotions were palpable as her father saw his baby girl for the first time as a bride. Katie’s brother officiated the ceremony, which I always think adds an extra level of intimacy and allows for more lighthearted moments of laughter as well as plenty of personal touches.

They had a sign up about it being an unplugged ceremony asking guest to put away their phones and not take photos. This truly makes a world of difference in the overall tone of a wedding ceremony. It allows your guests to be present in the moment with you rather than worrying about capturing the perfect photos— that’s my job after all! ;)

Katie and Jon chose to only have one attendant on each side to make up their wedding party and it made for such a relaxed and stress-free day for them. It simplified so much of the day and allowed them to focus on each other. Katie’s cousins, who is like a sister to her, was the matron of honor and John’s younger brother was his best man. I have to admit I, along with half the guests, was crying during John’s brothers toast. He explained that he has two sons now and completely understands how his younger son feels when he walks into a room and his face just lights up seeing his older brother. His younger son wants to do everyone his brother does, and Andrew said it perfectly describes his relationship with Jon. He said has always looked up to him and continues to do so now.

The reception was just absolutely breathtaking! Katie and Jon had a cookie table for their guests that different family members helped contribute to! My personal favorites were the chocolate covered Oreo pops— I mean, how amazing does that sound? Trust me it’s a solid choice. The two big Christmas trees framed the sweetheart table beautifully and the golden glow of the space was magical. They used ornaments as table numbers and had the cutest bride and groom wreathes hanging from the back of their chairs.

They danced the night away with their guests and even brought out flashing necklaces and glow sticks for an extra element of fun!

I love leaving a few takeaway tips and ideas in hopes that future couples can borrow to make their day extra special!

  • Unplugged Ceremony

  • First Look with Dad

  • Displaying generations of family wedding photos

  • Cookie table with handmade touches

  • Glow in the dark lights to added fun to the dance floor

I am forever humbled and grateful that I get to continues to capture these monumental moments for my clients! Thank you Katie + Jon for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day!
