Kat & Sarah’s Rocky Fork Country Club Wedding | Gahanna, Ohio
From NYC to Columbus | Becoming Mrs. & Mrs.
There were countless unforgettable moments throughout Kat and Sarah’s Rocky Fork Country Club wedding, but what I’ll remember most is how the joy never really stopped. From the welcome party the night before to the final song of the reception, every part of the weekend flowed naturally into the next.
Kat and Sarah first met and fell in love in New York City. Last fall, I met them there for their engagement session, and I had been looking forward to their wedding day ever since. Being there to document this next chapter, surrounded by the people who know them best, was such a joy.
A Rooftop Welcome Party at The Junto
The celebration began before the wedding day with a rooftop welcome party at The Junto Hotel. With sweeping views of downtown Columbus, it was the perfect setting for family and friends to gather, connect, and savor the first moments of a memorable weekend together.
I always appreciate when couples create space for their guests to spend extra time together before the wedding day. By the time everyone arrives for the ceremony, the conversations are already flowing, new friendships have been made, and the entire day feels more connected.
A Morning Overlooking Downtown Columbus
Wedding morning began at The Junto, where Kat and Sarah got ready in separate suites overlooking downtown Columbus. The modern design and beautiful natural light created the perfect backdrop for the start of the day.
From the moment I arrived, the energy was unmistakable. Their closest friends and family filled the rooms with laughter, happy tears, and the kind of anticipation that only comes with a wedding day.
Before heading to Rocky Fork Country Club, Kat and Sarah shared several meaningful first looks, including one with each other. After spending the morning apart, it gave them a chance to reconnect, exchange a few quiet words, and take in the significance of the day ahead.
I love this portion of the day because it’s a reminder of what the celebration is truly about. Before the ceremony, the guests, and the reception, everything begins with two people choosing each other.
A Ceremony That Brought Everyone Together
As guests arrived at Rocky Fork Country Club, they were welcomed with champagne while live string music drifted across the ceremony lawn, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere from the start.
Kat and Sarah exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends on a day that felt incredibly special. Every moment felt heartfelt and authentic, a reflection of the love they share and the incredible community that surrounds them.
For couples planning a Rocky Fork Country Club wedding, the space offers such a beautiful way to incorporate the natural surroundings into the experience while keeping the focus exactly where it belongs: the commitment being made.
A Poolside Cocktail Hour with Fresh Oysters, Cocktails, & Conversation
Guests eased into cocktail hour surrounded by the beauty of the courtyard, enjoying fresh oysters, signature cocktails, and the sounds of live music filling the space. Every detail created an atmosphere that felt thoughtful and refined. The energy was joyful but unhurried, the perfect transition between the ceremony and the evening ahead.
A Live Band Led Guests from Cocktail Hour to the Tented Reception
Rather than making their own way to the reception, guests followed a live band through the property to the stunning tented reception. People danced behind the newlyweds, clapped to the music, and celebrated together the entire way. Every guest became part of the celebration instead of simply watching it happen.
If you’re planning your own wedding, this is one idea worth considering. Live music doesn’t have to pause between cocktail hour and the reception. Bringing the band into the transitions creates a shared experience for your guests, keeps the excitement going, and makes for some incredibly fun and candid photographs.
Dinner, heartfelt toasts, incredible food, and live music carried the evening forward. Looking around the room, it was easy to see just how much love surrounded Kat and Sarah. Every table was filled with conversation, laughter, and guests who were genuinely excited to celebrate alongside them.
There is something so incredible about seeing all of the people who have shaped a couple’s story gathered together in one place, celebrating the love that brought them to that moment.
And then came Pink Pony Club.
Kat and Sarah grabbed microphones and joined the band onstage, creating one of the most unforgettable moments of the night. Within seconds, the dance floor became one giant singalong.
Guests crowded around the band, arms around one another, singing every word at the top of their lungs. The ultimate live performance!
A Wedding That Reflected Them Perfectly
When I think back on Kat and Sarah’s wedding, I keep coming back to the way they invited people in. Not only through the big moments, but through the meaningful experiences they created for the people around them.
A rooftop welcome party the night before. A quiet first look before the ceremony. Guests dancing with them as a live band led the way to the reception. An entire room singing together at the end of the night.
It was a celebration that brought together the people who have supported them throughout their lives, all while honoring the love Kat and Sarah share for one another. That love was reflected in the way they looked at each other, celebrated together, and welcomed everyone around them into the experience. Thoughtful, personal, and unmistakably them.
I’ll always be grateful that Kat and Sarah trusted me to document this meaningful chapter of their story.
